Season 2010/ 11 is quickly approaching, with only 8 weeks remaining until the action begins! Training has commenced at the much improved TCA Indoor nets and early numbers have been promising.

New club coach Nathan Butterworth and president Brett Smith have been busy in the off-season and we can now announce the club has recruited two first grade players, Josh Walmsley (Ulverstone) and Jack Young (South Launceston) who are both new to the club.

Walmsley is a hard hitting left hand batsman and Young a swing bowling all-rounder. Walmsley and Young have both represented Tasmania in 2nd XI cricket so there's no doubt they will be handy acquisitions.

Off the field the club has also been busy, since the end of last year we have seen a change in coach with popular club stalwart Nathan Butterworth taking on the club coaches role, Shane McDonald taking over as Junior Development Officer and Egg has been busy keeping the clubrooms up to scratch, from touching up a bit of paintwork to getting a new bar top for the bar.

The format of the senior roster has also taken a bit of a change from previous seasons with first grade set to have Twenty 20's being included in the roster for points. In previous seasons since the introduction of T20 cricket first grade has always played a knockout competition, seperate from the normal roster, but this season T20's will be included in the normal roster and club championship thus taking the number of founds in first grade from 14 to 21 (1 two-dayer, 1 one-dayer and 1 T20 against each of the other seven TCA clubs).

Lower grades will also play T20 cricket with two one dayers being taken out of the 14 round roster and being replaced with two T20's.

The club is excited and optimistic season 2010/ 11 will be a successful one so we hope to see you at KGV soon!
